First find the Actinic Millionaires!!There's lots of them out there, I suppose they don't spend to much time on this community because they are all counting their money. Actually I'm a millionaire but only in terms of pieces of integrated label paper, I have a few million of those.

Before I went self employed (and became poor overnight) I worked for a software house in the printing and packaging industry. There was one customer we always looked forward to visiting down in Diss, Norfolk.
They printed adult magazines and it was always a pleasure having a tour of the factory watching the presses and saddle stitchers working away.
The guy with the magnify glass checking the print quality had the best job:)
Always came away from this customer with a large brown envelope full of the latest issues.

I had a Bedford CF (L reg!) with the ledgend 'Scoopy Doo' and the dog on the side, and sold 17 different flavours. Sold Italian ice cream, Verossi - I learnt to count and swear in Italian, the driver would count off the stock, and his method of counting varied depending on how his journey up from Portsmouth had gone.
Back on topic-ish, I have a friend who is on the shortlist for DD with www.nappymat.co.uk - great product. I'd love to pitch and turn them down (but then I come from a sales background), she doesn't and I think she's a tad aprehensive...so ... any tips anyone? I think get figures straight and learn them off by heart must be No 1 priority because they're always so scathing about people who don't know their figures.

Dont know the rules but I would produce a minimum 3 years past profit and loss plus future plans including cashflow, print them off and give to each dragon at the start of the interview
Be sensible with the % portion, no one is going to be interested unless they get 40-50%, the risk just dosn't add up. if you were to buy 25% of a compediters company you would have no control over how they spend the money so why should the dragons
Have more products in the pipeline and not just a one product company
Their experience is what you really need and the fact they dont like failure so they will really pull out all the strings to turn around a poor performing company before they close it down

70s? Pah that photo is definitely an 80s one, taken circa 1982-3 I would think.
And I'm sure Jo is younger than me.
Being young *and* female certainly helped me be top vendor every day (dads were sent out to buy on a Sunday and somehow when they dithered between flavours they ended up getting a twin cone with both - I held no prisoners, but everyone was pushed for flakes), and I was fast at dishing it up - secret is keep the tubs rotated near the top of the freezer so they stay sufficiently soft to scoop easily and with as much air inside the ball as possible, the ice cream is quickest to scoop and goes a lot further. Still do the same when T has friends for tea! Nowadays there's not the market for it, we used to sell loads of blocks and tubs of ice cream because few people had freezers, and no-one had the multitude of flavours we had on the vans in their freezer. I have to confess I still love ice cream and right now have some Waitrose butterscotch in a bowl. Yum!
You should live near us Tracey, there's a rather nice young one sometimes on the estate up the lane.

Know your facts, know your figures, be realistic and know the competitors.
Don't teach them to suck eggs, blind them with technical details or pretend you will be selling 100 million units a week in a months time.

I've always seen it as one of those crazy things that most women do cos everyone else does. Every woman i have ever asked that doesn't openly admit their age to explain why, they have no idea at all. My mom and my nan did it so i do it. Your mom and nan probably spent hours collecting coal in a pram to heat the house too, but i am yet to see a woman desperate to do that.

No. I'm much older than that, I don't really understand this ladies age thing either, it's all I can do to remember how old I am, let alone lie about it, I'm 43 and feeling it ATM, I've just spent half an hour doing some strange sort of war dance with Joy (my 7 year old), it involves linking arms and dancing around, left and then right, going yee-haa a lot, proclaiming that all boys are dippy (aye aye yippy yippy aye, yee-haa).

The young lady with the icecream was 18 that day, so the 99 had a tiny blob of banana ice cream on top to represent the flame on a candle - an invention of mine for any child's birthday (or adult if they were childish enough to ask) so if they had a 99 they got an extra blob, and it also meant the whole family had ice cream on a birthday regardless of the fact they'd already had ice cream for birthday tea....always thinking of the sales! The photo was taken by her mum.
