Hi I'm having trouble with an order coming through, I only have CC, cheque and Paypal enabled, this order came through 'Invoice and payment before delivery'
How is that possible? It happened once before and I got the customer to do the order again and then it worked fine, this time I have asked the customer to go through the procedure again and its come up 'invoice bla bla! again!
Please help!!!!

Can you provide a screenshot of the payment methods you have setup within actinic?

Have you allocated the cheque function and not editted the text that comes through via the reporting structure?
ACTINIC | SETTINGS | BUSINESS SETTINGS | PAYMENT AND SECURITY
Check your Payment method and website description.

I don't think thats the problem, if someone does select the cheque option then the order comes through as 'cheque' in the payment field.
This other option doesn't exist in theory...:(
Can't do screen shot as I'm away from that PC the rest of the day

It sounds like you are seeing the 'payment method' and the 'website description' and getting confused. They are probably the same thing on your site. Provide a screenshot when you can and we will be able to help further if the above does not explain what's happening.

I wonder then why this error only happens sometimes? Surely it should happen all the time if I had it set up incorrectly?
I will try resetting my payments accepted tonight, how should I set up the cheque option?

You could also try compacting your database and refreshing your site.
This usually solves minor niggles.

That can happen if the order has a zero value (no payment is asked for in that case) or if it is downloaded with a payment type that no longer exists. Would either of these be the case here?

Nope, order was £32 and p[ayment types haven't changed at all, I don't even go into business settings options at all.

Is this order for a customer account? You might want to check what payment method is selected for the particular account.
Kind regards,

Ok, I think I know what is happening but cannot test as there is no link to the site. Can you try checking out without selecting a payment method and see if that causes this to happen. I would suggest setting the 'cheque' option as a 'Fallback', this will prevent it from happening again because if no payment method is selected then it will default to the fallback option.
Kind regards,

Ah, that answers a question that Chris and I have looked at in the past about setting a default option for the payment selection. It seems to be one of those things that Actinic can do that no-one (or only a few people) realise.
I've now gone and ticked a fallback option on my own website. I wonder if I'm the only one?

You are not alone Mike....
FAO ACT TOWERS: Nice little feature, why not state that it can do it in the UG so all are aware :)

I'm not sure Actinic realised it could do this either. There's a half a thread in this forum where Chris and myself have been trying to find a suitable workaround to the problem.
Still, it just shows the value in reading the forum. I've been using Actinic for 4-5 years and still learning.

I wonder whether it should have the top payment method in the list used as fallback by default? Obviously, it could be changed in the payment settings, if desired, but at least we wouldn't necessarily need to have known about this setting (which I have just enabled now too!)
