Product Image Templates

Is there anyway to have different image templates for my products?

For example I want some of my products to have 4 images but some to only have 2.

I tried using an alternative Act_ProductLine.html template replacing the NETQUOTEVAR:PRODUCTIMAGE with a new Custom Variable CUSTOMVAR:LIPSYIMAGE which was defined in actinic as LIPS_IMG.html which is a copy of the Act_ProductImage.html with 2 of the images removed.

But all that happened was the page displayed the text LIPS_IMG.html

Any ideas if this is the right way to do it or is there another way?

Set your customvar to use JPEG's rather than HTML pages and select "file name" and untick "use file content" .. if you set up CUSTOMVAR:IMAGE1, CUSTOMVAR:IMAGE2 etc you can set as many images as you need
