Been working on site for last few days and making periodic updates. Suddenly this morning it won't update. Just get hour glass and nothing happens. Did have problems yesterday with cgi-bin not working. Host "reconfigured" bin and it worked.
Rebooted computer. Compacted database (the cure for so many ills), no help. Switched to another site (have Developer). It updated fine. Switched back and still no update. Just the hour glass.
All advise greatly appreciated.

If it works on a different machine from the same snapshot sounds like could be more of a PC issue than Actinic (are the other sites in developer working on the faulty installation?)
Have you upgraded any firewalls, virus checkers, MS updates etc on the dodgy PC?
I presume the network settings, FTP settings etc are identical between machines?

Sorry, Jont, if I wasn't clear. Only one machine involved. Just activated a different site in Actinic and it upload a change to that site. Switched back to the problem site...same machine...and it just doesn't do anything but give me the hour glass.

Oh OK.
Have you tried importing the previous snapshot (pre new work) into a newly licensed site and see if that uploads? It could well be whatever you have added recently has upset the karma .. new sections and copy and pasted fragments were notorious for creating this type of havoc.

Had a problem with a V7 site into a V8 somewhere V7 shagged the database, you may need to call support and have them take a look

Jont:
Licensed new site and imported snapshot from yesterday...before the problem arose. No dice. Tried running Advanced Network test and the program hangs up and closes...but...again...only with this one site.
If I go back any further I'll be starting the shop portion of the site from scratch since I did all that work in the past two days.
I've contacted the host to see if whatever they did changed something else that's causing the problem. For now...Thanks for the help.

I've contacted the host to see if whatever they did changed something else that's causing the problem.
This is sometimes the case. Be prepared for the usual "we ain't done anything here" response as they assume a simple server change will not upset anyone

Not doing any upgrade to v8...just made some changes and had the cgi-bin problem.

Have you FTP'd to the site to check the cgi-bin is actually there and permissions set to 755. Does the network test pass or fail?

Here's the result of the network test on both the "old" site and the newly created import site:
Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
server: passed
connection: failed
sockets: passed
communications: failed
authorisation: failed
message: Connection timed out
Is it possible that the last items I added might have caused the problem. Would it do any good to delete an item at a time, compacting the database and trying again?

Sorry Jont...didn't answer one of your questions. I did go to the control panel for the site and the cgi-bin is there and the permissions are all set to 755.

Are the other licensed sites that are connecting hosted on the same server?

No, same hosting company but different server number.

Have you tried uploading to a test area on the other server? Just trying to narrow it down to host or actinic.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

Host asked for ftp login id and password and responded that both were "now working fine". Of course, they didn't explain what if anything they did to make it work.
However, site still won't update or refresh. I tried Refresh and I got the question "Are you sure to want to....", clicked Yes and got NOTHING.
Is there a way to use regular FTP to update the site while I raise a ticket with Actinic? Really can't afford to lose another couple of days.
Again, thanks for the help Jont...and anyone else with any help.

Okay...think I can safely say it has something to do with this particular database.
I made a change in one site and uploaded it to the same host/different server using Actinics Update web site.
Made change in another site and uploaded it to a different host using Actinic's Update web site.
Compacted database (again) and made change to the problem site and it won't go. Went to control panel and used host's ftp to upload a file to the site and it worked.
All I get in this problem site is an hour glass when trying to Update. Is there a workaround? Can I fix the database problem myself?...I'm not that expert at these things. Okay...I'm practically worthless at these things.
Help, help, help!!!!
