View Full Version : NorTree, help.
Hi, I am using the Nortree for my left nagivation. Now I have a problem, I have a huge space at the bottom of all catalog pages after Nortree menu is build.
Example page: http://www.hst.com.sg/acatalog/Gianfranco_Fila.html
Another question is when ever I click a page. I have to waiting for the menu to build, is it normal?
Thank in advance, thank Norman.

Look for the lines
"<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" height="100%"><tr>
<td background="palette3bg.gif" valign="top" width="110"> <br> <br>"
unless you actually need it, delete the 'height="100%'" tag.

Hi
you have a line "<td background="palette3bg.gif" valign="top" width="110">". What height is the image ?
When I view the code (no images) on my PC the page displays correctly. The only other thing I can thnk of is that on or more images could be too tall.

Hi, the file is just a pixel file. Meaning it repeat itself to full up the table. I also tried to delete the pic, cant help though.
Also the time to load Nortree, can the time being reduce? Or is it possible to have the sub menu limit to certain numbers so as to redure the time load?
Thank

I think I found the cause of both your problems. Your menu is just way too big (see screen cap attached). One of the menus goes off screen and it seem that the browser includes the scroll bars to compensate. If you remove the menu and view, the page displays OK. You can limit the number of levels for the menu using the NorTree interface, or you can re-arrange the depth/layout of you sections in Actinic.

use the "max depth" field.

Your menu is just way too big
That's the sort of thing that happens when you use Single Product Sections. Nortree will build a menu that takes you right to each product. As mentioned above you can set a MaxDepth to help prevent this.
Another problem is speed. The sectiontree files that Actinic generates will be quite big since every producty lives in it's own section but this file should be cached so pages other than the first will load OK. However (due to an IE bug) there will be a huge number of loads of the little triangle images. You may want to turn that off (in Nortree) to speed up the site for your customers.
