Product image location

Hi everyone.

I've searched the forum for a solution to this but didn't find anything (apologies if I'm repeating something I missed).

I'd like to host product images on a different server, but am unable to find a place to set this location. I will eventually have around 30,000 images and I don't really want all these in the root folder.

Am I right in thinking I have no choice?

Hi Dave Am I right in thinking I have no choice? I'm afraid so. There are a number of requests for the ability to specify sub-directories in /acatalog/ in the wishlist, so I'll add your voice to the chorus.

OK, I'll stick with clutering the root folder for now then :)

You could create a CUSTOMVAR then use this to display the image from any location on any server.

Gary, I like the sound of that.

At the moment I'm not experienced with creating custom variables. Is it simply a case of adding one called "IMAGESURL" in "Advanced -> Custom Properties" then reference it via "CUSTOMVAR:IMAGESURL"? Obviously I'll have to set the value to something like "http://images.ourdomain.com"
