Hitting upload website the usual checks run through marketing and check the sections but appears to simply stop at the checking "price index" .. this is the last item on screen before the upload box disappears. Actinic remains open. Database has been compacted and restarted. No error boxes - the progress box simply disappears.
Don't want to purge and refresh if there are any other suggestions out there. Only previous example I could find was back in the v6 days with a suggestion to compact but no follow up from the original poster.
MS v8.5.0

Hey Mr 2 new system man, upgrade one of the buggers and try that. You seem to be getting a lot of problems on that version. I understand you have always had your own version of actinic along with George, but this one is now surely enough!
OR send me a snappy buddy and i will try an upgrade and an upload for you.

You know what gorgeous - I was contemplating installing the same version as everyone else (sod George - he can swim in the murky waters by himself) - I will first try installing onto a spare machine and importing the snapshot before trashing this installation.
I was also thinking about starting rebuilding the whole site from scratch (such is my utter annoyance and desperation) so nothing legacy.

Anyone know of any installation issues for MS v8.5.1 on Small Business Server 2003 (to run as a stand alone install and not networked)?

Send me a snapshot dude, Croccy's was trashed on hers but worked perfectly on mine. I have an angelic version that never fails. Come and try to break it, if you think you're hard enough.

There was a guy on about this very recently having problems if i recall correctly. In fact i think he was recommended to contact you about it. Within the last week his post was i'm sure.

I am currently remote installing onto the SBS at the moment - it is a behemoth of a machine so if that does not work will send it through to you :)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Installed the ACD - all went swimingly - upgraded to v8.5.1 from v8.5.0. Lovely.
Create a new section. Add a product. Death to all mankind. Yep - my database is truly knackered.
Still - it rules out Actinic support from the default "upgrade to the latest version" to try and resolve. Hey oh - twas worth a shot.

crap news dude, i would hope as a bare minimum that support have tried the upgrade if they have had it for a month. Is your cover up shortly? It may be a stalling tactic to get you to renew.
'We've fixed your database but we are unable to complete the transfer of said item as your cover has finished. Please ensure a brown paper bag full of sherbet dips, flying saucers and magic dust is left by the skip round the back of the Jet garage so this transaction may continue.'

Sod that - I am going to trip out on the sherbet dip and manually type every single last product and line of HTML and CSS back into a new site inside v8.5.0 ... wonder if I can get a 1 month refund for my cover?

Haven't you had the email about FREE v9 (with support contract) for long standing forum contributors? More strawberry laces than you can think of.

Yep - free with every cover subscription taken out - that is a great deal for the forum clique - don't know how they do it. Can I swap the strawberry laces for cola bottles though please?

actually... i know this is odd, but have you tried using a default database?
create a new store, and let actinic populate the database.
overwrite the contents of your old db into it. not tables, but rows. it'll not take long.

Gabe - the live database will not allow me access - if I try to open into Access I get an AOIndex error and it refuses to open. All other sites on the same installation work fine.

mount the db in openoffice base?
email it to me and i'll see if i can restore it for j00.

Thanks for the offer Gabe - tried into OpenOffice and it also cried.
I made a management decision and dragged a known working copy of the database from an old ACD into the site1 folder, opened the last corrupted copy of Actinic on remote desktop and simply went through copy and pasting between the 2 version of the Actinic. Site is now allowing me to add sections, add products and also upload
Imagine my horror 30 minutes later (literally) when an email landed from Actinic support with the "fixed" database  enough to make lesser mortals cry. "Thankfully" support still had not fixed the database! Not wanting to go for a 3rd time lucky with support and my database I have canceled the support ticket.
I now have more backups of the working site than humanly possible.
Thanks again to everyone on the forum for their ideas and suggestions in trying to get the database fixed. It was even beyond the combined efforts of the forum - when I kill something I do it properly :D

Maybe you should stop fannying around and give the MiL the same treatment. In fact send her off to support and tell em you don't want it fixed.
