We need the ability to work with different version of catalog and developer and it would be nice to use only Developer but have licenses for sites to only allow Catalog development while still having the snapshots work for each version. We use Developer but if we have a client that has Catalog what is the best way to handle this issue? Do we need to get their version and how would that work? Also how does the licensing work with developer?

So I guess I’m just trying to figure out how people are going about this, or if there is a recommended way to handle this. I’ve heard of the Actinic Hosting but haven’t look into it yet, not sure if this is something that would help.

Thanks,
Jason

Ps. Also is there any simple comparison chart of the different versions of Actinic. This way it is easy to ask a client what they really need for functionality?

Hi Jason

The licence for Developer is for one machine whereas Catalog and Business are licensed per site. A Developer snapshot can be imported into Catalog, although if you wanted to develop the site using only the Catalog functionality, you can create a new site with the Catalog licence and when it is completed, the site and licence can be transferred to the customer.

Further details on the editions of Actinic can be found here (www.actinic.co.uk/products/index.htm) and there is a product comparator here (www.actinic.co.uk/products/matrix.htm).
