i need to set up shipping to have one cost for Uk islands etc and another for Uk mainland

I see it shipping zones we have the UK with subsets for

channel islands, n ireland, scillies, isle of man etc

so i can configure this fine

but where is the option for uk mainland ? ie england, wales and rest of scotland

Don't think it exists Jo, I tried adding the uk countries to the location list and setting the shipping rates for each one, the problem then was that the customers wouldn't pick Wales or Highlands etc just carried on with UK.
Don't know what happens if you delete UK, I gave up on it, lifes too short.

If you add them to the loaction list they need adding to the tax details too.
Just create your own zones Jo and call them as you want.

Just create your own zones Jo and call them as you want.
But to ensure your PSP can understand these zones and recognise them as UK, make sure you add them as UK1, UK2, UK3 etc...

this is what i started to do..

i created a location called Uk mainland and gave it UK - but this didn't work

so do i have to create

England UK1
Scotland UK2
Wales UK3

This really is quite stupid...... why have we got shipping set up for Aruba, alaska etc but not something that most peeps require ie the ability to charge differently for uk non mainland.

Roll on my current commitments being finished, coz then i'm finished with design totally

If you are on simple tax and everyone is going to be charged 17.5% vat, forget codes and conforming, just create your own outside of everything, much simpler IMO.

Zones - England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Scottish Highlands etc and put your classes inside them.

I probably need to set this up correctly, as the site has a mixture of VATable items and non VATable ie 80% of products are food.

And shipping is to UK - VATable and Channel Islands non VATable

So..... and i think this is now working

I go to locations and create a location called UK Mainland within United Kingdom and give it UK1 as code

i now get the correct options within the checkout ie choose country and then choose area within country

I use hsbc e-secure payments, who only see the UK as a whole. This means if i ship something to the shetlands i can only charge the same as if shipping to uk mainland.
If only my courier would do the same instead of charging £16.00 surcharge.

Anyone know of any fixes?

Thanks

Timmo.

This fix should work for you. Actinic is aware of the seperate 'regions' UK1, UK2 etc and charges shipping accordingly.

HSBC only takes the two letter UK code and accepts the charges specified by Actinic.

Is that not how it works?

It'd be a plus if Actinic could figure out the region from the postcode, then you wouldn't have to rely on joe public to choose the correct one from a list (and then scroll wheel to the wrong one).

Whatever you do the shopper will always balls it up - Ive a site setup as jo is doing and does not ship to EU BUT just had an order through from Germany using the Highlands and Islands shipping band:rolleyes:
