Tax display in cart

I've deleted the line "excluding tax" for the product pages but it still shows up on the cart. Since in the states we only need to charge tax for our home state, it might put some people off. How can I delete it from the cart and only have it appear when they proceed to the checkout/order process and enter their shipping address?

If you are using advanced tax, then in 'Business Settings | Tax', you can set the tax zone you have set up for your home state as your 'Default Tax Zone'.

That way, the online store will assume people are from your home state (until they say otherwise) and so will not add the tax on.
