Hi,
I have a small text file on my catalog site that powers a flash movie. I would like to be able to allow my client to edit this text file using Actinic's content control tools.
Does anyone know how you might edit and upload this file maybe by using a non-listed page with fragments.
I have tried a few ways but not really had any luck.
Hi Alex
Have you tried using Advanced | Additional Files?

Yes that is one bit of it.
However I would like my client to be able to edit that text file using actinic if possible.

I'm not too sure what you mean. Could you rephrase this or give an example.

Hi Norman,
I have a flash file that is shown as part of a catalog site. The test that is shown in this flash file is pulled from a txt file stored in my acatalog folder.
As the client will be admining their shop from Actinic I thought it would be clever to be able to let them edit this txt file using actinic.
I have tried creating a page (that is not actually shown on the site) and then creating a fragment which they edit with the text that they require in the flash movie. Ideally I was hoping that I could save this file as a txt file rather than a html. That way I could get the flash movie to read in that text.
Too clever - or just darn impossible!

Got you now.
The fragments are all assembled together to form a complete HTML page with all sorts of other info so it won't work that way.
You could just add the textfile's name in Advanced / Additional files, put a shortcut to that file it on their desktop so all they have to do is click it and it'll open in good old Notepad for a simple edit.
Not ideal but easy to use.
Here's another thing to consider.
If you were doing this at the product level for many different products you could try this. Use the popup Extended Info for your text, click none of the popup methods (so yoe page cannot be accidentally viewed), set the popup filename to something that your flash can use (unfortunately .txt isn't supported - but try it and youll get a list of legal filenames) . Finally create and modify a new extended info template so that everything is commented out except the NETQUOTEVAR:INFOTEXT.
This way you get a textfile that's unique to the product and where it can be edited in Actinic.
