Why has a multi million pound stadium got no drainage and no roof, this country is so pathetic at times. So we could house the world cup final and it could be postponed due to waterlogging?
Have i missed something?

In his pre match interview "these are the games i dream about, the games i want to play in"
In reality, Steven Gerrard was yet again an absolute disgrace, like most of them apart from Crouch.
One of the falsest 'world class' players i have ever seen in my life, a total big match bottler, worth about threppence on the open market. And don't come all this about him being tired, he never plays like that for his club. No bottle, no composure, no skill and more important than anything - no class. Start robbing hubcaps instead.

Yes but be fair Lee.....
They have their hair to consider, which Ferarri to drive home, which celebrities to invite for sunday dinner parties and what to spend their massive wages on.
No wonder the poor dears cannot concentrate. I feel so, so, sorry for them.
Still, they can always cuddle up, kiss each other and failing that roll about on the floor for absolutely sod all!

Good idea, blame Andorra:
7. Andorra 12 0 0 12 2 42 -40 0
Played 12, won 0, drawn 0, lost 12, goals for 2, goals against 42, points 0
Surely they could have beaten Russia if they'd tried.

players are partly to blame BUT....
manager is rubbish.
how many times we have seen playing 4-5-1 and loosing the plot. Yet he stills sticks with a swystem that does not work.
How many times we have seen gerrard and lampard playing in the same squad and at no time they have played good football. Yet on the most important game hs sticks with them
He was speaking on the previous day on the interview about needing the experinced players on this game. Why Beckham did not start? Why Robinson was left out completely in favour of Carson who has played only one international game again a rubbish opposition??? (dont get me wrong i am a great supporter of Carson but...)
Why the lump in defence which can barely drag his feet (yeap i refer to Campbell) playing? Why not choose a fast Central defender to compliment J.Lescott???
Why play with only one striker one your most vital game when you have defoe and bent on the bench???
give him the sack and get Shearer in. although he does not have any experience he cannot be any worst than this

Yeah - Andorra's problem is that its a tax haven so all their players have too much money - they're just not motivated enough.
Come on FIFA sort it out - cost us a qualifying place.

Is it just me or is this the most incredible error with the weather in this country? Didn't they look at what the Welsh did? What's going on, i'm almost speechless.

More missin' cds (http://newsbiscuit.com/article/england-manager-loses-details-of-25-million-alternative-goalkeepers-252)
PS Wembley does have a sliding roof. ;)

sliding roof or no sliding roof, immaterial IMHO.
With our weather conditions and a crucial qualifier on the calendar for more than 18 months Why the f$%^ did they arrange to have a NFL cash wagon game on the pitch 3 weeks before?...oh yeah the FA are money grabbing t$% heads! Oh, I forgot, we are short on pitches over here
That said, you could have put that bunch of duffers onto the best pitch in Europe and our inadequacies against superior techncians would still have been exposed.
What many of the hacks are overlooking is the fact that
1 We now go into Sundays' WC draw as 2nd seeds (hence the likelyhood of meeting top seeds such Italy, France, Germany etc is nailed on)
2 No competitive match in 10 months means that our FIFA ranking will continue to slide and the potential to become 3rd rated seeds is extremely heightened. This will compound point 1
We could not get out of a group of IMHO average teams, what chance now?
Time to smell the coffee, we are not as good as we think we are. Golden generation? More like rusty Ford Escorts
The new manager has to be right. Experienced, qualified, brave and tactically aware. Sven had 3 of the four qualities....lets hope the new boss has all.
Oh and Steve McClown had erm none of the above!
Rant over.

I am no football expert but i agree, the team is shit, has been for a while. I remember when Owen Scored became famous over night, not much happened since, oh yer Rooney scored became famous over night not much happened since. These are just 2 recent players there are many more hanging on the shirt tails of members of the school boys club
To be honest if i was being paid that much money every week i recon after about 5 years i probably would really give a rats arse as it would probably take a further 3 years for my earnings to drop by which time i would be worth a cool 20million at least
F**k me it must be a hard life, the worlds best players 15 or more years ago earnt nothing but loved the sport so much they would have played for peanuts to represent there country. Offer the player nothing for a cap and see who the really commited ones are, then you would probably have a team

Agreed G
They always do put together a great qualification peformance, however, if you were to believe the hype and build up of the golden generation, they should have been canon fodder.
Did we not beat this same team 4-2 in the last tournament.....?
That said, I agree with Dazza, national team representation should be about pride not money!
And on Wednesday, the only people who displayed any pride on that pitch were a team who had nothing to play for, had already qualified and earned about 1/10th of what the geeks in white do.
But it is not just about Wednesday, the damage was done well before then, Macedonian nuts anyone?

My own thoughts were, and I include Alex McLeish's choice v Italy in this, is to why to play with one up front (although Crouch and McFadden did well), when (imho at least) your team has to score at least two goals to win the game.
The best team is hardly ever the best eleven players.... FACTAMUNDOOOO

Bang on....
By selecting a single striker, in essence you are giving the opposition and extra 1-2 midfield options to counter anything your restrictive formation can supply.
We do not need 11 world beaters, just a balanced, well organised unit that stick to their roles and work as a unit with pride, passion and more importantly belief. Look at Scots in France as an example. No flair, no guile, but a solid platformed, unified performance got the win.

Notice Steve McClaren took the fall for this - but why aren't the top brass at the FA on the way too.
The national team won't change until the system changes - we need someone to inspire the footballers to greatness - Beckham is the only inspirational footballer and leader in the england team and probably the only person who would play for no money - pitty he is coming to the end of his playing career - he is the only player with passion for the game in the squad.
Did you see the lack of enthusiasm in Gerard in the pre match interview.
We need more players with passion and we need more FA top brass with the same mentality.
Edit to add - why do the FA choose the best man for the job and then sack him 16 matches later - who's to blame?
All just my opinion of course.
Cheers

Quite obvious that Steve was no great motovator of players, not like Fergie or Stuart Pearce for example.
I'd have told SG that he had to go out there and be the daddy, f*cking own that midfield, keep it simple whereas hes probably had fifty instructions rammed down his throat about channels, counter tracking, what areas to run, pass, and so on.
Any decent manager would have hooked Lampard at halftime imho.
