I suspect I know the answer to this one but am hoping to be surprised!....
Is it possible to have a different confirmation email go out to the customer if they have selected 'cheque on delivery' (i.e. cheque with order by post) rather than a psp payment method?

The 'Thank you .... we have received and are processing your order' is fine for psp but not so great for cheques.

Cheers

Hi

I'm sure others out there have a better solution but the way i do it its have a very generic email as the customer email (the one they get when they click on merchants reciept)

it goes like this....

---
Thank you blurb, follwed by order summary and then....

If you opted to send a cheque or Postal Order (Payable to xxx) by post, or chose to send your credit card details by post/fax/email; our contact details can be found below. If you paid on-line by WorldPay or PayPal you will shortly receive communication from them confirming your payment.

We will contact you further once your chosen payment method has been processed, however if you should have any questions in the meantime about this order please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards and thanks again for your order.
----

I then use the other three emails as a credit card payment success, mailed in payment received and order desptached mails. When the cheque arrives I send them the mailed payment email.

hhmm ok it sounds complicated but it works for us

cheers

Hi Andy,

thanks for that. It sounds just like what I had in mind as 'plan B'.

It hadn't occurred to me before but being able to have different emails depending on the selected payment method sounds like a great idea.

It would be great to be able to send a different customer email depending on the payment method the customer has chosen.

A generic email gets clumsy and impersonal with all the 'if you...'s - especially as the payment method they chose does not appear in the email.

Also I'm sure most customers don't actually read the receipt properly. We get a lot of orders placed with 'pay by cheque' which are then abandoned or forgotten by the customer. I would like to be able to send a receipt email with more detailed instructions than is possible with a generic email.

The same would apply to customers paying by BACS, customers requesting a proforma, and customers wishing to be invoiced in Euros, which we are thinking about introducing as payment methods. It'll be really clumsy to add all these instructions to the one generic email.

Is this still on the wishlist?

Is this still on the wishlist? It is, and I will add your post to the discussion.
