Visits from Inktomi?

hmmm..interesting
Just checked Jesters' December stats
Inktomi at No1 spot, considerably further ahead than No2 (although not as extreme as yours)
Same for HandsUp site.

On BB, I'm seeing about the same for Inktomi as Googlebot, with the rest being quite a way behind.

Inktomi = Yahoo ?

Yahoo bought Inktomi in 2002. I guess they're using their spider.

Interesting i dont see inktomi nowadays, i get a number for yahoo so odd that the spider is still doing the round

I think most stats packages recognise the spider from the IP address and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them haven't changed the name against the relevant IP address. So some will say Inktomi while others say Yahoo.
