vat help please

my childrens costumes in my shop carry no vat, however i wish to add accessories which are vat chargable.
When i add these items in an upsell, at the checkout screen the accessories show no vat?

do i need to change something when creating the upsells?

When you create a product you specify what rate of VAT is applicable for that product..........

Just rate the childrens clothing as Zero rated and the other "upsell" products appropriately.

.......or am i missing something ?

Hi Mike.
MMmmm i dont have the option on the upsell of stating the vat with it.

What i am doing is creating an upsell with a childs costume say
"add shoes for £3.50, however when i go to checkout the shoes which are vat show none?
?????

I think i am missing something, i have used "ad bla bla to other products and it seems ok,its just the none vat ones?
