Hi
The front page i work on usually looks like this : www.classixshop.com
instead of trying to get a fragment to show at the top, which isn't possible in v7 so i'm told. I have created a section instead with the image i intend to use, but when i preview my frontpage everything seems to be knocked out of line. Is the there some code missing from the sections template?
The top section works off the following code:
<!-- SectionLine HTML begin -->
<!-- Insert HTML for the beginning of a section title -->
<DIV ALIGN="CENTER">
<table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td width="100%" align="center"><A HREF="NETQUOTEVAR:SECTIONLINK">NETQUOTEVAR:SECTIONIMAGE</A>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
NETQUOTEVAR:SECTIONTEXT</td></tr></table>
NETQUOTEVAR:NEXT
<!-- Insert HTML for the end of a section title -->
<!-- SectionLine HTML end -->
The picture attatched shows the front page with the section image at the top.
Any help appreciated cheers FrAz

Why not have a shop top page and a home page, that's the best combo by far. This removal of normal home pages is madness and certainly missing a trick on most sites IMO.
If you do not show us what is going wrong how can we take a look and offer the reason, it's very hard to imagine from the few words you have said. It sounds on the surface to do with column count, i suspect your first level needs setting to 1 wide, but that is pure speculation and a complete guess.
You might be using an image too wide, but once again, just an idea without seeing it.

I have the section column count set to 1, but i see what you mean maybe the image is to big, but i do have a fragment @ the bottom which i the exact same size, (but then again, it doesn't having anything postioned below it).

Your homepage (index.php) is very slow to load and contains 1.3Mb of images.

Would you say i have to many images for a homepage?

Maybe not too many but they are definitely too large in size and need optimising. Personally I would ditch the animated gifs and use static images - there's too much going on in my eyes (pardon the pun!).

It is a bit manic on there, the narrow width probably doesn't help either. Introduce a more text based home page and optimise the images on your shop top page would be my recommendation. You should only follow that advice though, if you want improved SEO and a better experience for your users.

Yeh i see what you mena with the animated .gif's but i've have been given feedback about the site being bright and interesting so i've just left it as it was. The inital thought was to just have three promo gif's at the top, but that quickly turned into 6!! which i might have to reconsider using. As for the fragment at the botto. I wanted it to be at the top and alternate fragments each week to various sections of the site which most people generally miss or are unaware of.
The reason why i wanted the large section image at the top is because we're just started with body jewellery and wanted it to be the first thing that hits you when you visit the site.
So any other reccomendations the site you think might help? FrAz

So any other reccomendations the site you think might helpAs Lee has said in this thread and I said the last time you asked the same question to do what you want you MUST use the homepage in Actinic and NOT the shop index.
Do this and a whole new world will open to you not to mention better SERPs

i've have been given feedback about the site being bright and interesting so i've just left it as it was.You may well ahve but I suspect not many will have been on the homepage - check the bounce rate for that page and see how many clicked away.

You’ll have to excuse my incompetence at both actinic and it’s forums, but I am not the original developer of the site and only manage it and make minor alterations. I am however trying to pick abit of design techniques along the way. My evidence of good feedback is not in statistics, but from customer feedback and their shopping experience. As far as the homepage goes. The site has always been constructed under the index.php heading and I am unaware of ‘Homepage’ default. Although there has always been a homepage icon linked to the catalogue section, but didn’t want to alter it in case I disturbed the running of the site in any way. Any info on converting the site from the index.php to the homepage? Cheers FrAz
