Hi,

We currently use PayPal but we have had a few problems so are looking for an additional payment processor. WorldPay have currently got what seems to be a good offer available.

WorldDirect
Set up Fee: £75 SAVING over 60%
Monthly Fee: £15 per month* SAVING 50%
Credit and Debit card charge:
3.35% per transaction + 15p per transaction
Fraud Detection
Free, SAVING 6p per transaction
Internet Terminal
No set up fee, SAVING £100 setup

I have had a scout round the forum and have read various threads but I am just after some current feedback on WorldPay. Is it fairly straightforward to set up? and how do those who use it rate their customer service?

Thanks,

Darren B

World pay is popular with many, but it depends on what you sales are like really. if you have a large number of sales then get a proper merchant account with someone like streamline, hsbc e.t.c

you can use your merchant account and get the money quicker than if you use worldpay only, but those rates are high if you ask me, more than 1% above what i pay

Thanks for your response Darren. How long does it take to transfer money to your bank account with WorldPay and is there a fee to transfer the money?

Hi

I think those fees are just for using worldpay to process payments and not as a merchant account as well. Depends what you want! We use their merchant account - the fees are a bit higher but we bargain them down every so often. They are flexible about the remittance, they start you off at 4 weeks and again we've got them down from that. I think its 35p to transfer money each week.

Customer service is excellent (uk based and intelligent staff!) and it was a doddle to set up. They have had a few problems with the recent upgrade but they do their best to try and help you out (in my experience!), although current problems with lack of invoices is a pain.

I'd be interested to know what fees people are paying with their own merchant account - is it worth it with all the banking fees as well? How easy is the set up?

Thanks :)

i've been using WP for 6 years and have always been very happy with them. Very little downtime, there was big issue a couple of years ago but nothing since then.

Processing over the xmas period has always been stable (unlike protx that times out when things get busy). The recent upgrade for PCI went smoothly for me too.

Rates are possibly a little bit higher than you could probably get elsewhere if you tried hard. If you have a merchant acct and FSB you should be able to negotiate 1%

Yes there is a 28 day payment delay but after time you can negotiate this down - mine is now 7 days.

Customer server has always been good.

If you have a merchant acct i would look at the new payment service Actinic are going to launch soon. Phone Actinic for more detail.
