Jumping out of my concrete bunker just noticed a search box to search a site in a natural listings on Google eg

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=clara&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

The search for "clara" brings up a search option to search within the Clara site.

Is this new or have I been hibernating for 12 months?

No big secret

The feature occurs when it is likely to be high probability that a user wants more refined search results within a specific site. Like other google snippets, the sites that display the site search box are chosen algorithmically based on metrics that measure how useful the search box is to users.
