In first 10 seconds of hitting the site, my thoughts were this looks OK as the page built. Then i saw that the home page is close on 150% wider than you want it to be and you have a massive area of empty real estate in the header area. I think you should get these areas addressed for starters.

Hi Harvey - the first thing I notice is that all the main content (your products in the boxes), in IE6 drop down to the bottom of the page (see attached screen shot).

Now that is scary... how could you possibly know that!?!
All comments so far much appreciated, looking into the issues raised right now!

Can anyone have any pointers as to why that might be?

I like it - but i'd prefer to see unique product images on this page
http://www.1staiddirect.co.uk/acatalog/index.html
rather then the same green image, having the same image forces me to read the small text whereas the images on this page are far more inviting and make me click

I've tackled the easiest part first!
Many thanks for the heads-up Jo

If you get a spare moment could you take another quick look please?
Does the Best Seller and New products list account for your comment about the width of the home page?
Thanks

I reckon the MD has just ravaged her, who sits at their desk with a monitor at 100 degress to them. I don't think she is taking her job seriously, if she is to be the image of this company, i suggest she removes the straw from her hair, turns her monitor round and gets on with some 'kin work. Lazy little sod.
PS - yes home page widths now seem fine, just the sheila to sort out now.

100 times better, i'd still like to see a nurse though ;).
OMG someone that asks for a site review and listens, scarey stuff.

The black underline on the hover state on the links in the navbar is next, it looks naff, try and make it a bit clearer with either a background color change or text color change and don't be too scared to have some larger text in there, these are key links, let people see them.

Logical place for the checkout link is in the basket also next to the cart link, or at least have it in both places.

Looks good but get rid of the flashing 'free Delivery'. All flashing stuff does is annoy people.

I just really appreciate people taking the time to give me their feedback!

You'd be surprised Harvey, how many people ask for a site review, however really just want a pat on the back. They ignore the very type of people's feedback whose money they want to capture. So a really well done on that aspect.
I think the site looks much better already. I would still move the checkout link also, bad idea not to do that, they go together on every site, don't break the norm for people.
And I cannot get a nurse out of my mind, can we have a nurse please?
PS - not like the big fat sheila in the carry on films.

Thanks once again Lee, I've made that change.
I'd love to reward you with that nurse, but alas the decision is not mine...

That's better, you seem to have a spurious URL right at the bottom of the page also.
pah @ the lack of nurse.
