Hi all,

its not perfect yet but its where we want the site to go. Not sure I'm ready for constructive criticism yet, but if you have it ill certainly listen!
Thanks,
Matt

Also, if anyone knows why the image in the left box is aligning left instead of middle in FF and safari i'd be grateful

they are really nice jackets! We need more info on there for it as it has some great features. when you see it, It's clearly so well made.
If you really like it, i'm sure we can do a bit better on the site deal! Let me know if your interested :)

lol..thanks but I don't like any item of clothing enough to spend 3 figures on it (let alone multiples of :eek: )

Nice use of extended info, although if i were interested in this, i might also want abit more info on the jacket itself.
I also like the reflection on the product image. Its a very good example of more care being taken over the products that takes away the need for any more site design - default executive is sufficient.
Excellent!

i wondered if it might be worth making it more obvious?

Still unable to connect, this great addition doesn't look so great, it appears to have trashed the site.

Hi again,
Happy to say site is back up. talk about a long night though. Normally i find 1and1 are normally pretty good at support but that was pretty awful! Eventually got through to someone who spotted one of the previous engineers had miswritten the .htaccess and fixed it.
Should you wish, the thing i was trying to show off was the new interface at
http://menswearonline.co.uk/acatalog/Zegna.html
be sure to check the extended info!
Thanks,
Matt

What are you actually wanting feedback on?

What are you actually wanting feedback on?
just seeing what people think. Any usability issues etc.
that and fishing for compliments!

Do mean the pop up extra info thingy?
gabrielcrowe

clever stuff.
you marry a beautiful popup, with a mostly default actinic shop.
the upshot, is, i want that jacket.

layout was chosen before i came on board, even so, it works well, and it looks ok.
need more info on the jacket, or are you happy to go ahead with the order?

I'm loving the zoom - would be great on our bed linen site where people want to see detail up close .... is that sort of thing easy to implement? I wouldn't know where to start!

i like the arm pod controls.
i feel a hardware project coming on.

is this what you used?

Does it come with an ipod.... it does not say...
You'd think it would be better if the ipod holder was behind the lining, rather than having a clostomy bag sewn onto the inside. Unless the jacket is just showerproof and not proper waterproof...
The pop up thingy with zoom in is excellent but a lot you could have added to the initial very blank product page methinks. (edited)

Nice, but I agree, I don't want to see that in a popup I want to see it on the product page. I don't see the need for the popup.

rather than having a clostomy bag sewn onto the inside. that comment has completely destroyed all the desirability I had for the jacket :cool:
For me although i'm not a pop up fan i like this one and can thus forgive its useage.
Although it needs more product ie jacket info

The zoom is MagicZoom, previously known as LuckyZoom. I did an Actinic integration of that about 6 months ago. See http://www.drillpine.biz/v8luckyzoom/acatalog/Books.html for a simple demo.
The reflected image is from http://cow.neondragon.net/stuff/reflection/

Here's how to add that reflected image effect. It takes about 2 minutes to do!
Go to http://cow.neondragon.net/stuff/reflection/ and download the zipfile from the "Download the latest..." link.
Extract the file reflection.js into your site folder.
Edit your overall layout and look for the </head> line (about 66 lines down). Immediately above that add
<script type="text/javascript" src="reflection.js"></script>
Just below that is the <body ...> tag. Look in it for
<body onload="
Change that to read
<body onload="addReflections();
leave the rest of the line intact.
Edit layout Standard Product Image. Look for the line
border="0"
immediately above that add
class="reflect"
And that's that.
You can alter that last line to be e.g.
class="reflect rheight25 ropacity40"
to make the reflections 1/4 size and give them 40% opacity. More details are in the reflections documentation.

ahh i see norman has been giving away the juicy details. ;)
Yep, reflection dead easy. not sure it works well enough for us to keep it though. I'd have to put it everywhere for consistency.
as for the popups...
we have to keep them for now. maybe next month ill get time to remove them. (I only just worked out that we didnt even need them)
all in good time. just happy the sites back up!
mattc
24-Apr-2008, 12:40 PM
btw
class="reflect rheight25"
use class="reflect rheight25 ropacity40"
to control opacity as well
