ftp password & security

I'm getting something installed on one of my sites and to ease the process I want the company to have my ftp details to install/test it for me.

Should I just give them the ftp log in and password and then change it once the work is complete, or is there a 'safer' way?

Any advice on the best way of going about this would be appreciated.

I would probably create a new ftp account and give them a unique username and password. That way you can delete the account when they're done and no-one knows your own username or password.
