redirect problem

Hi.

If i have no products in the cart and goto checkout or if i add a product to the cart i get bounced back to the home page (www.domain.com/index.html) instead of the page i have come from..

can anyone help?

it generally happens if you have zonealarm or norton something-or-other running.
