Whats the best way to get a higher natural listing on google without paying lots of money out to companies that say they will get you there.

I wondered that too but then I thought Alan's reply was spot on and worthy of being found by anyone who bothered to search/look??

Yeah - I left the question and the reply as hopefully it will make it incrementally easier for people to find solutions about SEO as there is another quick answer that points to a useful thread. That's the theory anyway.
