Hi my webhost company mail me telling me this:

Your perl scripts takes up almost 50% of the CPU power whenever someone goes to your web pages. It becomes worse if there are multiple viewers on your web site. Normally, scripts, no matter how complicated they are, will only take up less than 3% of the CPU resources. Yours is considered a very extreme case. This is usually the cause of poorly written scripts. Please check the scripts. Thanks.

Why is this so? It is because i uses actinic? Thank

Please check the following KB article to explains the differences between v4 to v6 perlscripts

It advises you how much memory is needed to run perlscripts

Please could you provide more information on what your webhost server specification? How it is set up and also what version of Actinic you are using?

To check out what version of Actinic you are using, you just need to go into "Help | About .."

Hi i am using 6.1.2 of actinic. My webhost was saying the perl scipt i generate crushing his server. His server is a unix server. This is a link of their site http://www.axac.com/products.php

They now move me to another server, which make life very hard for me as i have to refigure all the setting. Now i entercounter a problem saying the webhost does not allow post to cgi-bin, why is that so? Is there anything wrong with just change the website address and ftp name in the network setup to upload to a new site.

Hi Kai

You will need to reconfigure your network settings, if the web server has been set up differently.

I would suggest in going through "Web | Configure Web Site Details", and check the box for Configure new network settings.

Place in your new details when prompted.

I tried using the one you said. Every thing fine until the prompt for path to perl. My default one is /usr/bin/perl but it keep on pop up saying that it is a incorrect path. Why is this so.
