View Full Version : PayPal payment received but status is Pending

Hi
Paypal payment status code is "6-Pending". i.e. the payment has not gone through according to ActinicExpress.
According to Paypal the payment has gone through.
Order Status is "Cart".

I can live with the previous post I raised - Payment received and order stuck in the cart.

Now though it seems I can't trust the payment status code.

Any tips?

Hi David,

Was this order by a customer using a credit card rather than a Paypal account? If so then I'm afraid it is related to the 'auto-return' problem. We have raised this with Paypal in the past but as far as we know they have not plans to change things.

We only use Paypal to take payments. How do I tell from ActinicExpress whether they used their Paypal account or a credit card via Paypal?

You can't tell through Express but wouldn't your Paypal account tell you?

I'm afraid I can't examine Paypal as I don't own that part of the business. (I'm in a kind of affiliate deal).

However, it's finally dawned on me that the order number is relevant to this too.

Would I be right in saying that if the payment is successfully processed, then the order number changes from the format

CART2008.....

to the format
CUSTOMER INITIALS POSTCODE ORDER NUMBER

I've just tested the idea by starting then abandoning a shopping cart after entering my address and before entering payment. The order remains CART2008... even if I manually change the payment status. Does that imply it changes to a true order number automatically when payment is successful?
