View Full Version : I am Looking for a local Actinic expert...

I need to find someone completely familiar with Actinic Version 7 that lives or works in the North West London area, to troubleshoot a problem on a business machine.
1. There are only two women running the office and neither are computer literate to anywhere near this extent.
2. I run the web office in Scotland and for me to go down will cost around £200 for the trip and an overnight stay in London. So, I'd be happy to offer that as remuneration for the aid.
The problem is that the orders won't export to a persons.csv file, there's something that stops it every time with an error message which I am trying to get an exact copy of. Even if I figure it out, it will prove difficult to relay over the phone and it's a difficult time of year for me to leave.
So, if any one can help it would be great to arrange something. Hope to here from you.

Why don't you get gotomypc added to the PC in question and then just dial in remotely.

I'll second gotomypc. It's a bit slow but almost as good as being there

Sorry I haven't got back quicker, it's been pretty flat out here with the online shop.
WinXP to WinXP can be done remotely without the use of third party software, but it's hard to configure with no one on the other end who knows what they're doing.
In answer to your question guccij, the location is Muswell Hill.

I use showmypc to support my mum's PC 150 miles away. She's a silver surfer with no PC expertise. We just downloaded the software and ran it.

Muswell HillSorry, too far for me. I reckon gotomypc or the other one is a really good idea. I wouldn't be without GTMPC now. Especially one occasions like this afternoon when I had to listen to two successive concerts of children murdering Christmas carols. I just got out my netbook and worked quietly on my office computer.

I use showmypc
Does this have to be available on both machines?
Yes.
The PC to be controlled generates a password which is typed into the controlling PC.

Teamviewer is another one that doesn't require an install.
My personal choice is the Logmein free version.

Problem solved. Showmypc was easy. She was really quite fascinated the other end! So grateful for the help.

Just thought i would let you know about gotomypc
Having done a trial i decided to cancel, it asks why you cancelled, i selected to use another product. All of a sudden it reduced the price from £9.99 per month to £5.99 i could not find anything about a special offer on the website.
Just thought i would share, i thought it was a little naughty to be honest but there you go

That would certainly cheese me off. Personally the free version of logmein is adequate for my needs at £0 per month.
EDIT Must be an echo - I wrote the same on this thread 2 months ago.
