How do I move my V7 installation to new server?

I am changing the hosting account I use for myV7 installation.

All other files and my blog have done over to the new account.

My store is installed in a subdirectory.

What is the safe way to take a copy of my store and then upload it to the new hosting account after the DNS is switched to the new host?

I vague remember that it isn't as straight forwards as it might appear so I thought I would ask before creating a mess!

A snapshot should do it if you have things set up correctly. However if it is just a hosting change and not a PC one, then you simply need to get the new network settings to pass the test (within actnic) and then do a website refresh.

You may also need to check that the Order Number dosn't start again from 0 when you relocate. Make a test order and see. If you need to update it, you do this through Help / Trobleshooting.

Thanks for those ideas, I have checked the paths to Perl etc for the new site.

Can you check the server setting prior to the DNS switch by forcing the address to the IP or other trick?

ask your new host if they can let you have a temporary url, you can then upload and test prior to dns change
