Customers creating their own Accounts?

Hi

Is it possible for a customer to create their own login account?
We are a retail only, and would like to be able to offer all our customers this facility.
Doing it the long way round by creating the account once an order is received, then mailing them their login details is proving very time consuming and resulting in duplicates (Doh!)

Any advise would be much aoppreciated,.

Although it is not possible for a customer to create a customer account whilst browsing online, it is possible for storeowners to include a product that simulates the registration process.
