View Full Version : Searching reference numbers help

Hi
im having touble with the search on my pages

i cant search by reference number, is this normal or just something going wrong with the programme

i can search by description, but there are different catalogs that accompany the site and if people see a part number they want to search for it

any help or advice would be appreciated

Hi there.

Try enabling the product references in Catalog. To do this, go to View | Business settings | Options. You will need to make sure that Auto generate product references is not ticked, and you will need to make sure "Hide product references is also not ticked. Upload your store and try searching.

Still no luck

the settings are already as you suggested

i check the search settings in -View aswell...no luck there either

any more ideas?

I think the problem is the - in your reference numbers. I don't know V5. V6 has a place to enter the search characters. Add - to it if V5 has it too.

It's the same place.

Go to 'View | Search Settings' and enter a '-' in the 'Word Character Set' field.

Thats done it. was the '-' in the ref i added i to the string and now were good.
