Sending an "Order Dispatched" e-mail

Is there an easy way of sending an "Order Dispatched" e-mail to customers, or has anyone created an easy way to do this?

Try opening an Order, choose Mail / New and from the Template drop down select Order Shipped.

hmmm, that seems quicker than the way I was doing it - but it's still doing it one at a time... what would be good would be to select a whole bunch and just press a button to e-mail them all...

Better still if there was the option to automatically send order dispatched e-mails when the items were flagged as shipped and the invoice printed

maybe not... I 'ship' the item before printing the dispatch note and there maybe some time elasped between doing this and the package leaving the building. I'd prefer them to be kept separate, and I'd like the opportunity to be able to modify them before they're sent (if possible could they be sent to my default e-mail apps send queue rather than direct to the smtp server?)
