coupon codes

We have never used coupons but I need to set one up now and I am confused.

I have created a discount code called coupon, made sure the "requires coupon" box is ticked and made the "reward type % off" = 100. Do I need to make a new payment method called coupon so that it can be selected in the checkout page?

No, there is a separate coupon code box where people input the code if they have it, it shows up on the checkout page. You seem to be setting up a 100% discount though, make sure this is what you want, sounds like anyone can buy anything for free on the surface unless this is specific to one or two products?

The inbuilt help is great in this area, have a jolly good read of that before you even start IMO, i still do this to this day.
