eror conencting to database (locally)

Hi
I just put up a test site in the test area and it worked ok online
But when i go to refresh the live site i am now getting connecting to database errors on my local computer
eg problem with database
operation : opening the setup table etc

any ideas?

Some questions may help diagnose what to do...

Do you mean you uploaded in test mode or did you upload to another webspace to test?
ie how did you transfer the site from the test area to the live site?
Is it on another computer or did you licence another site?
Did you create a snapshot to import into the live site database?

I uploaded to the test area using test mode,
to the one and only site.yes.
I did not create a snapshot

It seems to be a local problem on my computer. I cannot do a test network because actinic cannot find the connection, i cannot edit business settings etc etc

The message "operation : opening the setup table etc" sounds like a database problem. You haven't put the full message, but see this thread (http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=43244) for some ideas for a similar error.

When you say put up a test site, is this an existing site that needs correction or a new blank site you are testing with?.

It is an existing site which i am trying to upgrade to the latest version.

What is the full error message?. The Housekeeping > Compact Databases menu sometimes works for small database issues, but this one if the full message is not the same as the other thread I linked to, could be something that needs repairing by Actinic support.

Hi Arthur, Try these: Do the Web > Network settings past the test okay?. Are you using Enhanced FTP on that window?. Have you tried compacting the database? (Housekeeping menu > Compact databases > tick both > OK). However post 9 here: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=37741 points again to it possibly being a database error.

There were 2 problems which you helped me solve.
Compacting the db fixed that one up.
The other was that i usually connect via ftp on an ip number rather than the domain name
Your link to another thread reminded me of that too
So now its working.
