i have been comparing the traffic my competitors are getting using alexa, they are getting allegedly 500,000 visitors a week and i am getting 50. I thought actinic was supposed to be good for getting sites noticed by search engines. i've even paid for advertising in some targeted websites

are these alexa figures reliable?

if they are true then if i can get my website up there i should be able to make some money

any ideas on what i can do to get to where they are

thanks

Are you sure you are looking at the right numbers? Alexa ranks sites by traffic, but I did not think you can get raw numbers without paying, and than for only for the top 100,000 sites.

My site is ranked 512,851. Actinic.co.uk is ranked 43,941. Google.com is ranked 4.

If your listed, and most sites are, click on the `Update Your Info` link on the left hand side of the homepage at the very bottom, you can then see your page ranking.

Football Heaven is at 431,648, we have yet to engage the `knock Google out of the top five strategy`.:D

I also appreciate any feedback on my site from forum users, thanks.

beside the ranking there is a traffic analysis link if you click on this it will give you a breakdown of the number of visitors per week

i may have misinterpreted the traffic rank figures, the analysis looks as though its how this figure has changed over time periods

The traffic rank figures are purely how well that web site ranked compared to other web sites.

So if it says a competitor has a traffic rank of 500,000 it just means that there are 499,999 web sites that are ranked higher than them by alexa.

Unfortunately there's no way to go from alexa's traffic rank figure to an actual amount of traffic that site is getting.
