Order Confirmation Email Error

This is a really weird one! About 1 in every 100 confirmation emails do not show the correct figures - it appears to drop the £xx. from the figures on each line except VAT so it appears to lose 4 characters on each line!

So, for example, an order for £14.46, P&P £1.60 VAT £2.81 Total £18.87 - see example below:

Shopping Basket (Prices in British Pounds)
DESCRIPTION QUANTITY PRICE COST
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Long Tail Parrot - 21/36cm 1 46 46

Post and Packing (Royal Mail First Class - 2-3 Days): 0

Total: 87

A wild guess is it may have something to do with email addresses at aol???? Can anyone help?
