Discounts and Surcharges

I want to add a line that if my customers order over a certain value I will give them a free item.

Problem is when i refer to manual it says I can do this and tell me what to do ie Order levels - but the item decription is not in the fields to be chosen

ie I go to New - add new description " free item"
Enable Properties on cart value inc default tax and Ammount
click on triggers, enter cart value - but where do I specify the item I want to give?

You can only do this if you have the business version AFAIK, if you only have Catalog then not possible. If you do have business have a read of the inbuilt help on discounts, it's very good and has some useful pictures, there's also an example discount setup, be sure to explore the various tabs, the 'reward' part is where you'd do what you want to.

ahh that explains it.. am Catalog user (cheapskate I know, but it is a hobby)

Pity the help file doesn't make this clear.. ahh well
