I hope someone maybe able to help, with this query.

I'm currently developing with Actinic Business. There is a requirement that 2 developers need access to the same site folder at any one time, however this seems to be a problem where as the 'Sites' folder is only located on the personal desktop machine.

Does anyone know if there is a way of having the 'site' folder located on a seperate mapped drive on the server, which is available for both developers.

Kind Regards.

that would be really handy please if someone can tell us how to alter the default site root path for any given site....we often have two or three guys working on one site and its a awkward to make sure theyre all up to date on each machine all the time..

Could you not just install Actinic onto the mapped drive of the server? That way you should get the Site1 on the same drive...

Just a thought...

The only problem with this is the fact that only the user that installed the program can load it. Otherwise additional users receve a 'cannot find original directory'.

There has to be an easier way of doing this, if anyone knows of this or how to change the location of the original directory, that would be a good step forward.

Could you not export the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic key from the registry where the software was initally installed and inport it to the other machines?

Alternatively, there is a key:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog6\Sites\Site1\InstallRoot

Could modifying this provide the solution?

If you want two people to work on one site then you can install the site onto a networked drive, the only trick is that you have to install it on each of the machine to the same location - this means that you will probably have to install it onto machine a, then delete Actinic Ecommerce vx directory on the networked drive, then install it from machine b and so on until it has been installed on all machines.

Obviously if two people are working on the same files they might run into problems and overwrite or delete each others files (eg. changing the theme would overwrite all of the files) and you can't run Actinic from both machines as a working

Cheers,
