Can anyone tell me if any of these sites are hosted with Heart Internet?

We will need to know which ones you mean in order to get to the heart of your question. As a company, Heart aorta get their settings sorted out, they could be a main artery for actinic hosting. As it is, everyone i know who has tried, decided on by-passing them. I think a lot of people have tried, not sure to what stent they've tried, i'm sure a few were left wanting to verbally attack Heart. If i were the MD of this company, i'd be having a sternum word with the tech department.

I'd like to do a witty post, but my hearts just not in it.
Presumably the lack of sites is the forum stopping new members from posting links?

If they did, the arteries of this forum could be overflowing and raise some peoples pulse rate

I moved the post from the v10 showcase forum but left the wording the same - hence the reference to 'these sites' in the OP.

In that vein: having had dealings with Heart they left me wanting to attack them and give a good beating, definitely a company leave you with high blood pressure. Customer relations is non-existstent.

I have a Heart reseller account with Heart and have several customers' Actinic sites on it. No down time so far. Servers are UK based, email support is fast and good, customer CP interfaces vgood. Several other posts contain network settings for Heart. I can post here if wished. (AND I have no connection and don't get commission!!!)

Thank you for your post. It does give me some encouragement to know that somebody has got sites working on heart internet. When testing Network Settings I am getting a failed on Communications and Authentication with the message: 535 Incorrect authentication data. My settings have been checked by Actinic support and they tell me they are all correct. The problem seems to be that Heart Internet will not accept email relay?? How do I get round that?

Are you using an email address on the same domain or a different domain?
I have a Heart Reseller account and some of my Actinic sites are on shared hosting.
I've had very few niggles with Heart in the 6 years I've been with them and Actinic works just fine and I've definitely never had a 535 error.
Can you post your network settings (without sensitive data) and I'll compare it to my standard Heart settings.

If you search the forum for Heart Internet Settings there are two options, one is to make a folder 'cgi' (CHMOD 755) and a folder 'acatalog' (777) on public_html and use the former as the cgi-bin, the other is to use the cgi-bin already on the server - I tend to make the acatalog folder and chmod it 777 before I start: Here are both in that order.
The first is my test and playwith site and it is in a subfolder as I test several Actinic sites at once giving them different script IDs. You can look at the first site and see that it works!

Thank you to everyone who has tried to help me with this, I now have my Actinic site working with no problems.
My Network settings were, as confirmed by Actinic support, all correct. Actinic software suggests you test your settings before proceeding. This is WRONG.
First you must "Generate Scripts" then you must "Publish" then you can test your Network settings and everything works fine. l am really annoyed that Actinic support could not solve this but pleased everything is now resolved.
Thanks again to the community for your assistance.

You shouldn't have needed to generate the scripts nor publish for the network test to work. Either way I'm glad you're up and running.

Just for completeness remember these points.
Although when you add a hosting account Heart generates it immediately after you create it, it can take several hours for the cgi-bin to become functional, so if you create a hosting account and try and configure an Actinic site straight away it will not work and you will get lots of error messages.
FTP needs to be unlocked for Actinic to work. If you unlock by IP Address remember that your IP Address changes (unless you have a static one) so you may have to lock and unlock it again.
When you create a hosting account for a client's Actinic site to run on, you need to tick 'Display Web Server Information' and 'Display Account Summary' in 'Edit Web Hosting Features' for that account so that the customers control panel allows them to unlock FTP for their IP Address. If you need to upload as a designer, add your IP Address to theirs separated by a comma.
