Actinic Business V Actinic Online

Hi

Is anyone out there successfully using Actinic Online that has moved from desktop can you advise what are the pros and cons - we are considering moving to online as you can intergrate with ebay,amazon,website and facebook all in one place - thanks in advance

We are just looking at whether to move our 5 sites currently on Actinic Desktop 10.04 to Actinic Online. On the whole the functionality and flexibility looks good enough for what we want.

However, we have come across a 'blocker' today for us which is that there is no field for Customer Account Number or Customer Code in Actinic Online, and at the moment no way around this except to use the 'Comments' section which would not work for us.

We co-ordinate the sales from our 5 sites in Sage 50, which actually requires a customer code for each customer account. The Sage Link being prepared for Actinic Online (in Beta testing now) can apparently produce a code for the export of orders to Sage, where you can have some input, but at this point, there does not seem to be a way of referencing customers in Online via the Account code they will have in Sage. So a lack of coherency across platforms here.

Seems a small thing, but if you work/rely on/with Customer Codes for each of your customers, it will be an issue.

Tech support is telling us that no-one else has asked for this...maybe, but we are not the only ones using Sage I think..everyone working with Sage will have customer codes for each of their customers and I suspect will want to be able to use these same codes across both Online and Sage.

For those who have attributes/permutations, think very hard before you leap onto online bandwagon. Been told that in order to maintain stock control on Actinic Online, you will need to define all underlining permutations as individual products. Hence, if you are not careful, you monthly cost will spiral horrendously. Competitive products on the market actually use options for each style and thus, do not count towards the number of products allowed.

Recently, I've been looking at alternatives to the desktop version as I seriously do need to get away it, once and for all. Its just hangs & crashes so frequently, thats its almost unusable. Very, very frustrating indeed.
