digital downloads and shipping

Hi

I have a site that sells both CDS and digital downloads of songs

1. Can I setup the site to have shipping and delivery on cds but none on digital downloads?

2. Can I set up the cart to allow the sale of physical goods to a range of countries, but allow digital downloads to those not included in this list?

1. Can I setup the site to have shipping and delivery on cds but none on digital downloads?

Yes. Using Business v6 (with the Digital Download module) you can create products for physical shipping which have a weight, and then products for digital download with zero weight. You can then set up your shipping tables to not charge shipping on orders with zero weight.

You can even create a 'holding product' with a component and two choices - one choice for physical shipping and one choice for soft download. You can then use the component to associate the appropriate choice with the appropriate product (from the above paragraph).

2. Can I set up the cart to allow the sale of physical goods to a range of countries, but allow digital downloads to those not included in this list?

Not really. The only thing you could do is for customers in countries where you only want to digitally download, you could make shipping costs so high that they can only choose the download option . You will need to make this clear in your store pages, otherwise you may end up with unhappy customers that have to exit the checkout and edit their cart.
