Once again we cannot retrieve emails from Claranet. And we have not been able to access site site stats for several days.
We chose Claranet because they came recommended by Actinic and their Clarahost Soho package at £9.99 a month is reasonable ..... but we are really having major second thoughts.
Is anyone else having a problem?

I have no idea why Actinic recommend them. We are in the process of moving to a new host. Even that is proving very difficult as they dont seem to have the support in place to move our domain.
We have had 12 months of mail server problems with them - finally recently they admitted the problems they were having and we decided to move.
I'd love to know why Actinic think they are so good.

hi, we have also had loads of issue with clara
Our site is hosted on their soho servers account. Email is at best patchy with them, support slow. We lost our site for some time in march due to a sever error and thus lost our google page one ranking for two months. We are now back on google and have got clara to move our site to a differnt server. Our contract is up shortly with them but we wil not be returning!
And as for webstats they are never updated on time and can go several days with no updates.
Any recomendations for a new hosting company wpuld be nice!
thanks

Wesley,
We have the same experience with Claranet. However, at least they make an attempt to keep you in the picture - unlike 1&1.
see http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=7709
After they moved from IIS5 to 6 without telling us I wrote a constructive email suggesting that they advise of of any "improvements". The email was not acknowleged and they have done the same thing again - that is make changes which trash our site without warning.
I was seriously considering a move to them for my "important" commercial sites. I am glad I did not.

Aren't Clara updating there entire email server structure at the moment to improve no the problems which everyone has mentioned about email and that?

We have been with clara for some years now, support is not bad, sever has only been down twice (once recently) and email can be a pain. My best experience regarding support has to be with 4surehosting.co.uk, there support is second to none! (and no I don't work for them!).
Only reason we haven't moved is hassle of rewriting CGI scripts and the like.
We have one domain with them (4surehosting.co.uk) and when that was setup they emailed us the actinic network settings which worked first time! - That saved us hours just from the start.
To summarise: any new sites would be with 4surehosting.co.uk 10/10, current site stays with clara (hassle of moving) 7/10
