I'm using the trial version of Developer 6 and want to insert my own buttons for the navigation bars. I have created these and entered the file names in the Design! Options! Navigation, but when I do an off line preview they don't show.
I know this can be done, I've done it in V4, I'm obviously missing something simple, but can't find out what!
Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong.....

Did you save your images into Site1? They may have to be there in order for the JavaScript code that preloads them to work.

Thanks Norman, but yes they are in the Site1 folder and it still doesn't work!

it might sound silly but did you save these images as gif files
if you use things like PSP you need to select gifs as these are not the defaults.
Cheers

Yes, they are gif images in Site 1 - really can't understand why they are not working (will end up being something so obvious - just can't see it!!)

If you are using the default look and feel for the software (a theme called 'Curves') then it will not use navigation images - it just uses text links.
I would suggest switching to one of the 'Clean Layouts' (in Design | Themes) such as 'Layout05' to re-enable these.

Chris,
I'm using Layout 1 (I only want the navigation buttons along the top and this was the only layout that gave it to me). Should this option allow what I'm trying to do? If not, I'll try Layout 5 and edit the template.
Thanks

have you checked your image names against what you have typed into the navigation box.....ie case sensitive?

Jo, yes, I used the Browse button to find them - I do know that Actinic is picking them up, I tested by using one of them as the add to cart button and that worked ok!
This is getting very silly!!

try manually copying the images into the previewHTML directory.
For some reason actinic catalog might not be doing this.

I don't use Developer but Actinic Catalog, so this may not apply, but I had a similar problem which was corrected when I got rid of the NETQUOTEVAR:HEADERGUIDE in the template. If there is a similar tag which creates the default nav menu, try deleting it.
Check the path of the image src. Is it 'Site1/yourimage.gif' or 'Site1/../yourimage.gif'
Have you tried using a HTML editor to manually insert the buttons instead?

is there a "additional files" option within developer like there is in catalog
put the files in there to be uploaded

When you do a right click on the 'missing image' things in Internet Explorer, and then go to 'Properties, where is Internet Explorer trying to find the images?

Problem now solved - I changed the layout from layout01 to layout05 (and edited the template to move the Quick Search) and it all now works OK.
Thanks for everyones help.
