Hi, don't know if anyone can help on this one?

I have been using Catalog V4 on 2 machines. 1 set-up for designing, the other for downloading and handling orders (2 different locations).

Now I want to move the whole shebang onto the second machine (ie the order one).

I know I can take a copy of the site1 folder and move it across to machine 2 - but surely this will blat the historical order information that is stored in catalog on that machine.

Anyone can tell me how I can move across, but retain the order information in the target machine?

This is really hard in v4, but very simply in v5 and v6. So, one simple answer is 'upgrade', but I imagine you don't want to hear that.

You can copy across all images and templates easily enough from your upload machine to your download machine, and then re-enable 'Catalog Maintenance' in 'Business Settings | Options'. The problem is getting your product data up to date.

The way I could do it is open up your ActinicCatalog.mdb database in Access. Then, do a right click on the 'Product' table and select 'Save As / Export'. Save it as a Excel file.

Then open the file in Excel and save it as a CSV file. This file can then be imported via the import wizard, by doing an update.

This will stick all your up-to-date product date into the database. You will then need to sort it into sections and subsections.

Thanks for this. A related supplementary though......

When moving the catalogue to the new PC, do I have to also copy across all the graphics used (ie for products) and more importantly, do they have to be located in a folder structure the same as on the source PC?

Absolutely. Hopefully, all your images were either within your 'Site1' folder or else within subfolders in 'Site1', because that way your store will all be set up with relative paths.
