When importing a flat file no page name is auto generated

When I manually enter details of a section name, a page name is auto generated in section layout. However if I import a section name using a flat file this page name appears not to be generated and has to be entered manually - is this correct ?

That is correct.

The flat file import does have a 'Section Page Name' field available if you want to manually specify your own page names via an import. Otherwise the pages will take the default name of :

Catalog_Name_Section_Name_x.html

Where 'x' is the ID of that section.
