Sorry, we don't have a release date for v10 yet.

Not even a rough date?

This year?

Third Quarter?

Second Quarter?

Its a valid question from a customer, why don't Actinic at least offer some guidance as to when to expect (or even hope for) the next version to come out? I know there can be unexpected hold ups and stuff but jeez, someone must have a plan?

We've learned from bitter experience that if we announce a new release prematurely, sales of the current version drop off sharply. That's quite understandable, but it's not something we can afford to happen for very long, especially in the current climate. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

We generally announce a release date when the new version goes into Beta testing. We are a few weeks away from that.

Does that mean that v10 is in Alpha testing at the moment?

It seems to me that Actinic are damned if they do, and damned if they don't. I recall lots of moans and gripes when v10 was announced back in October (I was one of those griping), that it didn't have this or it didn't have that.
I'm hoping that the reason for the delay, is because the Towers are a) making sure - as sure as they can be anyway - that it's a fully fledged release when it comes and b) that some of the gripes have been turned into positive things to incorporate along the way.
Me? I'm happy to wait and see.
