Order Processing with Google Checkout
Step 1 – Buyer places an order at your site
A buyer places an order at your site byadding their chosen item to the shopping cart. They may now either ‘View Cart’ ... Or ‘Checkout’ In either case they will see the option to use Google Checkout. If they elect to use Google Checkout they will be taken to the Google Checkout site. Step 2 – Buyer uses Google Checkout Once at the Google Checkout site your buyer has two choices; either sign in as an existing Google Checkout user, or register for a Google Checkout Account. Please consult the Google Checkout site at http://checkout.google.co.uk for more information. On successful completion of the transaction with Google, the buyer will be returned to your Actinic Express shop. Step 3 – Merchant processes order As a merchant you now have a new order to deal with, from Google Checkout. The process is slightly different but follows the same logical flow as any other order with Actinic Express. In your Google Checkout Account you can set up to process payment in one of two ways, it’s important you choose the method that fits with your business process and Google’s terms and conditions. 1. Automatically authorise the buyer's card for the full amount of the order In this configuration Google will authorise the full amount from the buyers card but will not take payment immediately. You have to trigger payment manually whenyou are ready to ship the goods (please follow Google’s Terms and Conditions). In order to trigger payment, first locate the order in Actinic Express: The order Payment Status is ‘4 –Pre-authorised (PSP)’. You will see an icon of ‘Three Gold Coins’, clicking this triggers the payment process at Google. A payment message will be sent to Google and Google will respond by updating the Payment Status of the order to ‘0 – PSP Pending’ (please note the page does not automatically refresh, you will need to click ‘Show Orders’ again to see the updated status. If Google processes the payment very quickly, you may not see the ‘0 – PSP Pending’ status - payment may proceed immediately to the final status of ‘1 – Received’. Google quote their typical processing times on their information pages; please consult these for guidance. At this point you will need to process the order as though it were any other, through the stages of Shipping and Completion as appropriate to your business. 2. Automatically authorise and charge the buyer's card. In this configuration Google will charge the buyers card at the point of sale, you do not need to trigger the payment. Please consult Google’s Terms and Conditions to make sure that your use of this method is appropriate to the nature of your business. Usually you will see the order in Payment Status ‘1 – Received’, ready for you to process. At this point you will need to process the order as though it were any other, through the stages of Shipping and Completion as appropriate to your business. What is ‘5 – Waiting for CC details’? If you are processing orders while a customer is in the middle of checking out, you may notice the Payment Status ‘5 – Waiting for CC details’, this appears quite legitimately when an order is being processed through Google Checkout but the buyers payment card details have not yet been entered or verified. Once the customer has completed the checkout process, the status will change to ‘4 – Pre-authorised (PSP)’ or ‘1 – Received’ depending on your configured processing options at Google Checkout. |
